Iphone 3GS announced

Looks like the rumours surrounding the release of a new Iphone were fairly spot on, with the exception of the front facing camera. Named the Iphone 3GS. I believe the S stands for speed, full details can be found here. Some of the new features include.

1. Up to 2x faster browsing, although they do not mention RAM or processor specifications.

2. Can now shoot video without using any unapproved apps like the previous iphone.

3. A 3.0 megapixel auto-focus camera which people have stated is a major improvement over the old 2.0 megapixel one.

4. Voice control

5. Cut, copy and paste, a landscape keyboard and MMS

For all those who currently own a 3g iphone, will these new features be tempting enough to make you upgrade?

Will we see a new iphone at WWDC 2009?

Apple Iphone fans all around the world are anxiously awaiting to see if there will be an announcement of a new Iphone at WWDC 2009 to commence on Monday June 8th.

If a new iphone is released, the main items rumoured are a better camera, maybe 3.2 megapixel with auto-focus that can handle video, an additional front facing camera, a faster processor and more RAM. I am considering getting one myself for my next phone, if the specs are good enough, this will be a very interesting announcement.

Latest Forum News – 11th January 2009

1. The site was down for a short while today while I upgraded the forum to the latest vbulletin version 3.8.0. If anybody notices any errors, be sure to let me know.

2. mep916 was appointed as a Super Moderator today. Nobody likes spam on the forum, so having an extra person on hand who can delete spam, especially some of the obscene material that sometimes gets posted, should definitely come in handy. Thanks mep916 for volunteering.

3. The following three members were made VIP members, Scout, Calibretto, and TFT.

Favourite movies of 2008

Well, there was no poll, but I did a rough count of the movies that computerforum.com members voted as their favourite for 2008 and the results were as follows:

1. The Dark Knight, with 23 votes, no surprise here.

2. Iron Man, with 9 votes, my last minute vote bumped it into second spot.

3. Wall-E with 8 votes. Personally I did not like this movie.

War Games – The Dead Code

Well I spotted this in the video rental store, the fact they had only one copy of it, suggested it would no doubt be a b-grade movie. Sure enough it was an average movie, but for fans of the original War Games, made 25 years ago, this movie was a must see.
This movie was made in 2008 and billed as the sequel to the original War Games. Personally I would have preferred if they had remade the original for today and tried to add a degree of realism to the movie. But alas, that was not to be. The highlight of the movie was the appearance of WOPR (War Operation Plan Response) with its 5.25″ floppy drive. One downside of the movie, was that at times, it looked like one big advertisement for Pringles Chips, when you see the movie, you will know.

Samsung Omnia Unboxing

I am considering the Samsung Omnia as a replacement for my aging Dopod 838 Pro, and came across this video unboxing. It starts off rather amateurish, but then becomes quite impressive.

Total Number of Posts

Well I am bit of a stats junkie. On computerforum.com, I like to follow the total number of posts from time to time. I would also like to keep track of how many posts have been made here at TechZine.com as well. So in the right hand sidebar, I just implemented a little counter, which states the Total Number of Posts, it should say 6 after this is posted.
Also in keeping with what is happening at computerforum.com, further down the line, I plan on implementing a blogger leaderboard which will list the top ten bloggers on the sidebar of every page. So far, mep916 is the only person to have submitted a blog post.

Female Gamers

I was reading the following article by a well known Australian Newspaper.

One very interesting statistic stated was that females make up 46% of the online gaming population. I believe the figure quoted may apply only to Australia, but Australia is a lot like the USA. So what do you think?

1. Do females really make up 46% of the gaming population

2. If so, what games do you think they play?
